In pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 111 S. 2014 and to R.A. No. 10398 dated March 13, 2013 entitled declaring November 25 of every year as National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), Upper Kilingan Elementary School conducted the 2014 Annual 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children with the theme “End VAW! It’s our Duty” From November 25 to Dec 12, 2014.
Our school participated in the kick off parade “THE WALK TO END VAW” last November 25, 2014. The walk started from Ynares Center and ended at Sumulong Park Plaza.
The following activities were done in our school to support the said campaign:
Conduct Fora to disseminate information on various forms of Violence Against Women (VAW)
Conduct Essay Writing, Slogan-Making Contest
Hanging of Streamers announcing the campaign
The said activities aim to increase awareness on violence against women and their children. No woman should have to live in fear of violence. No man should think it is acceptable to perpetrate violence against women. No child should grow up in a home where violence is an everyday occurrence.
